Who it's for:
For anyone recording vocals and an instrument at the same time who wants a compact, reliable interface. It's the best-selling interface in the world, which says a lot about how widely it's trusted.
What stands out:
It has its own driver through Focusrite Control 2, so you get stable, low-latency performance on Windows without depending on generic drivers like ASIO4ALL.
Both inputs take a mic or an instrument, with enough gain for most microphones. Air mode adds presence to the signal, Auto Gain sets your levels automatically and Clip Safe keeps you from losing a take to clipping.
It comes with Pro Tools Artist or Ableton Live Lite and the Hitmaker Expansion bundle.
What's missing:
It's a very popular interface, and in my opinion that makes it pretty overrated. It works well, but there are options with better value in the same price range. If you're going to buy a Scarlett, make it the 4th Gen and not an older generation.
Summary:
Solid, reliable and with modern features in the 4th Gen. It's not my favorite, but it delivers what it promises.
