Who it's for:
For anyone who needs 4 inputs and 4 outputs and wants more connection flexibility than the 2i2 offers.
What stands out:
It has its own driver through Focusrite Control 2, stable and low-latency on Windows, so you don't have to rely on generic drivers like ASIO4ALL.
The two front inputs are combo jacks and take either a mic or an instrument. The other two are line inputs on the back, handy for synths or other line-level gear. It has physical MIDI I/O, which makes it easy to hook up keyboards and controllers. Air mode, Auto Gain and Clip Safe are all here too.
What's missing:
It only has 2 mic preamps. The other two inputs are line-only, which in my opinion still makes it a bit pricey for what it offers. It would be much better if all 4 inputs were combo.
Bottom line:
A solid interface if you need 4 channels in and out. But if your main use is recording mics, look at other options that give you more preamps for the same money.
