Who it's for:
This is the interface I use in my own studio. It's for anyone who wants to record a full band at a professional level, or build a high-end home studio without giving up any features.
What stands out:
You get 8 MAX-HD preamps with plenty of gain and very low noise. The signal is so clean that you hear every detail of the performance, with nothing to fix later.
It runs on its own driver through Universal Control, so it's stable and low-latency without relying on generic drivers like ASIO4ALL. The integration with Studio One is seamless, which makes the whole workflow much smoother.
The two instrument inputs were co-developed with Fender engineers for guitar and bass, and the reamp outputs let you send a recorded track from the computer back out to your amp and re-record it with different settings. For picky guitar and bass players, that changes the creative process completely.
Auto Gain sets your input levels for you, so you don't have to keep testing manually before you hit record.
It's expandable via ADAT and S/PDIF, so you can add more channels down the road without replacing the interface.
It comes with a full Studio One Pro license (now Fender Studio Pro), PreSonus's professional DAW.
What's missing:
It's a rack unit built for a fixed studio. It's not portable.
Bottom line:
The best interface I've ever used. 8 pro preamps, Fender co-developed instrument inputs and reamp outputs, a dedicated driver, digital expansion and Studio One Pro included. For people who want the most out of their recordings.
